Gas Strut Mounting positions

How to Determine the Gas Spring Mounting Position

Understanding the two primary mounting points, the ‘fixed’ and ‘moving’ mounting points, is crucial for proper installation. The fixed point remains stationary, while the moving point rotates through an arc as the application opens and closes.

Begin positioning by placing the moving mounting point approximately 1/3 of the lid’s length from the hinge. In typical situations, the ‘moving’ point should not exceed the center point.

This initial placement provides a baseline for determining the correct strut placement and sizing.

My motor home has a king size bed in the rear. I want to install gas struts to permit the wood bed base to be raised so I can access plumbing, storage, etc. The bed is hinged at the top and only needs to be raised about 45 degrees. What measurments do I need to determine strut placements and size?

To determine the correct gas strut placement and size for raising the wood bed base in your motor home, you will need to take the following measurements:
Weight of the Bed Base and Mattress
Length and Width of the Bed Base
Distance from the Hinge to the Desired Lifting Point
Height of the Lift: Measure the desired height you want the bed to be raised to (up to 45 degrees).
